The corporation’s goal is to create programs that can model how human beings can harness, use, and benefit from renewable energy sources as well as support the increase of local, sustainable farms. The Abundance Foundation is being established not only to promote advances in areas like solar, wind, and biodiesel, but also to encourage conservation and alternative energy paradigms. We are all about local, sustainable food and fuel.
Carolina Biodiesel: Clean fuel for a brighter future - http://carolinabiofuels.org/ We're a biodiesel distributor that grew out of an environmental organization. Our businesses currently include fuel distribution and green transportation (car, bus, and limousine rental).
Carrboro Greenspace: Center for community and sustainability - www.carrborogreenspace.org The Carrboro Greenspace is a non-profit organization that serves as a hub to cultivate “do-it-ourselves,” community-driven, sustainability practices through collaborative projects, creative education, and social events. Concentrating Solar Thermal Power - www.coolerenergy.org We are a group of technologists and educators working together to promote the wider and faster deployment of concentrating solar thermal electric generation(CSP). Our mission is to create a greater awareness of the availability of CSP technology and its potential. Our message is geared towards the public, the press, policymakers, and other non-profits promoting clean energy.
Durham Bike Co-op - www.durhambikecoop.org We propose an open community for bicyclists and bicycle culture in Durham. To this end, we further propose a bicycle co-operative that can function as a nexus of this community. This co-operative shall be member-driven, member-funded, and most importantly, fun!
FreeCycle - www.freecycle.org Our mission is to build a worldwide gifting movement that reduces waste, saves precious resources & eases the burden on our landfills while enabling our members to benefit from the strength of a larger community.
Global Warming Initiatives - www.gwi-nc.org GWI aims to help corporations reduce Emissions & Increase Assets by performing energy surveys and analyses of existing facilities, manufacturing equipment, and systems, and pinpoints areas where cost-reductions and energy savings are possible. GWI establishes a public record of industrial emissions and reductions that can be referenced for credits as governmental pressures for mandatory reporting of GHG emissions increases. GWI also hires graduate and undergraduate interns and collaborates with other institutions and organizations to reduce GHG emissions in North Carolina.
NC Conservation Council - www.conservationcouncilnc.org Conservation Council of North Carolina is a bi-partisan, advocacy organization working statewide to protect, preserve, and enhance the quality of life for North Carolina citizens. We do this by: Educating legislators and the public on critical environmental issues; Advocating for strong environmental policies; Holding legislators accountable for their decisions that impact the environment; Mobilizing voters to advocate for positive change in environmental policies; and Electing candidates for public office who will prioritize passing sound environmental laws.
NC Conservation Network - http://www.ncconservationnetwork.org The NC Conservation Network supports, trains and coordinates diverse groups and directly advocates to achieve equitable and sustainable solutions for our environment. The NC Conservation Network's goals include providing updates and environmental news to NC environmental groups, training activists to become more effective advocates, fostering healthy patterns of communication and collaboration, and convening and facilitating coalitions to address significant environmental issues.
NC Saves Energy - http://ncsavesenergy.org/ NC SAVE$ ENERGY is an initiative by a growing number of organizations to create a statewide, independent (non-utility) energy efficiency program. It will keep savings on energy bills in the hands of residential customers, while serving those who can least afford rising energy costs. We are working to get NC SAVE$ ENERGY (House Bill 1050) passed through the NC General Assembly in 2010.
NC Solar Center at NCSU - www.ncsc.ncsu.edu The NC Solar Center covers all renewable energy areas including solar, wind, and biomass. The NC Solar Center also has teams dedicated to High Performance Buildings, and Clean Transportation.
NC Sustainable Energy Association - www.ncsustainableenergy.org Founded in 1978, The North Carolina Sustainable Energy Association is a 501(c)3 non-profit membership organization of individuals, businesses, government and non-profits interested in sustainable energy. Located in Raleigh, but active throughout the state, NCSEA works to ensure a sustainable future by promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency in North Carolina through education, public policy and economic development.
NC WARN – NC Waste Awareness and Reduction Network - www.ncwarn.org NC WARN is a member-based nonprofit tackling the accelerating crisis posed by climate change – along with the various risks of nuclear power – by watch-dogging utility practices and working for a swift North Carolina transition to energy efficiency and clean power generation. In partnership with other citizen groups, NC WARN uses sound scientific research to inform and involve the public in key decisions regarding their wellbeing.
Pickard’s Mountain - www.pickardsmountain.org Pickards Mountain Eco-Institute is dedicated to offering practical solutions to the environmental crisis . Our educational farm and sustainability learning center reside on 350 acres in the Piedmont of North Carolina. Our organic gardens, sustainable livestock production, biofuels, and renewable energy systems are dedicated to children of all ages, with the hope of finding ways of living more harmoniously within the planetary community. We offer educational programs for classes of children, pre-school through high school, internships for college students, and workshops for adults. We are community supported welcome tax deductible donations through The Abundance Foundation

Conservation Trust for NC - www.ctnc.org CTNC works with landowners, local land trusts and government agencies to save the places you love in North Carolina. We represent, assist and promote our state's local land trusts so they can protect more land. We help willing landowners conserve their property along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association - www.ellerbecreek.orgDedicated to restoring Ellerbe Creek and making it an asset for the citizens of Durham, the Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association gained official 501(c)(3) non-profit status in April of 1999. Since then we have acquired close to 150-acres, including five nature preserves that we manage for public recreation, and we are working with the state to restore Ellerbe creek and protect the long-term safety of drinking water supplies of the Upper Neuse River Basin. Our other activities include nature walks, trail building, installing wetland gardens, environmental education programs, and reducing storm water impacts on the creek.

NC Coastal Federation - www.nccoast.org Our mission is to provide citizens and groups with the assistance they need to take an active role in the stewardship of North Carolina’s coastal water quality and natural resources. Our concern is to conserve the natural beauty and productivity of our coast so that it remains a great place to live, work and visit. Since its grassroots formation in 1982 the federation is the state's only 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that focuses exclusively on protecting and restoring the coast of North Carolina through education, advocacy and habitat preservation and restoration.

Builders of Hope - www.buildersofhope.org Builders of Hope is helping to rebuild lives and homes by providing safe, affordable housing to working families. Our comprehensive model incorporates economic benefits, environmental stewardship and social solutions to create sustainable communities.
Durham Economic Resource Center - www.endpovertydurham.org End Poverty Durham is a group of interfaith leaders and community-based organizations working collaboratively to eliminate poverty in Durham, NC in the next 25 years.
Food Bank of Eastern and Central NC - www.foodbankcenc.org Established in 1980, the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina is a non-profit organization that provides food to people at risk of hunger in 34 counties in central and eastern North Carolina. In 2008-09, the Food Bank distributed over 36.8 million pounds of food through 800 partner agencies including soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, and after school programs for children.
Habitat for Humanity of Wake County - www.habitatwake.org Habitat for Humanity of Wake County builds safe, affordable houses for qualified homebuyers regardless of race, religion or background. Each Habitat home is built in partnership with homeowner families, sponsors, and volunteers. Our houses are safe, decent, affordable homes which are sold for no profit to the partner family who repays a 0% interest mortgage over 20 years. Homeowners attend a series of workshops on financial literacy and home maintenance so they are well prepared to be homeowners.
Passage Home - www.passagehome.org Passage Home is a nationally recognized nonprofit community development corporation that has been serving Wake County, NC for over 18 years. Our programs are focused in four main areas: housing and support services, economic development, youth development, and neighborhood revitalization. Our target populations include working homeless families, ex offenders, those in recovery, and low resource neighborhoods.
Raleigh Rescue Mission - www.raleighrescue.org Our mission is to CHANGE lives. Through the Love of Jesus Christ, Raleigh Rescue Mission rebuilds the broken lives of men, women and children by ministering to their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Each day we strive to demonstrate Christ’s love by offering safe sanctuary, addiction recovery programs, medical care, educational and life skill classes and job-skills training.
Society of St. Andrew, North Carolina – www.endhunger.org/north_carolina.htm The Society of St. Andrew operates a statewide, volunteer-driven Gleaning Network in North Carolina that coordinates with local farmers, thousands of volunteers, and food providing agencies. Through the North Carolina Gleaning Network, we coordinate volunteers across the state who actually enter fields under after farmers have finished harvesting and simply pick up the tons of good produce left behind. Our volunteers represent groups from various church denominations, synagogues, youth groups, other civic organizations, individuals, and inner city residents.
Stop Hunger Now - www.stophungernow.org Stop Hunger Now is a Raleigh-based international hunger relief agency that has been fulfilling its commitment to end hunger for more than 11 years. Since 1998, the organization has coordinated the distribution of food and other lifesaving aid to children and families in countries all over the world.
Urban Ministries - www.urbanmin.org Urban Ministries of Wake County is a non-profit, interfaith organization that provides essential basic services to more than 24,000 diverse families and individuals in Wake County every year. We provide training to make sure you are at ease in your role, and as a volunteer Guardian ad Litem you will be in court as a team member with a trained attorney advocate. Since 1983, the North Carolina Guardian ad Litem (GAL) program has served the best interests of thousands of children. Many were able to return home, some now live with other family members, still others have been adopted. What we try to ensure is that all of the children we represent remain safe, and that their homes are permanent.
